This is Long Beach Island's (LBI's) oldest bar. Ernest Hemingway and Babe Ruth hung out here when it was the Acme Hotel. Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band performed here. Online articles talk about how it was once the Ketch, and people protested the closing of the Ketch and the opening of Bird & Betty's by Bird and Betty Clutter. But I see in the Ultimate Shore Guide that the place is keeping the Ketch's Popular "teen nights," so maybe some of the controversy has died down. Feel free to comment if you have more information.
