A vertical chateau is what Inga Saffron calls this 1890s building by Frank Miles Day & Bro. It was designed for the American Baptist Publication Society. See the Philadelphia Inquirer, 3/27/16 at p. H19. Ms. Saffron describes its crown thusly: Two stories high, the roof is a small pyramid, adorned with copper jewelry that culminates in a pair of regal finials. Four peaked dormer windows mimic the slope of the roof, clad in terra cotta tiles. She also points out that the former Jacob Reed store next door was modeled on an Italian palazzo (that location can be found on Cyber Plaque at Stained Glass Window in Rear of CVS, Philly ).
