About

Gip's Place - An Authentic Juke Joint

Gip's is one of the last original surviving authentic homes of live blues music. It opened in 1952. It is in danger of being shut down by the local government because it is not properly zoned. This information is from the New York Times, 5/19/13, at p. 10, in an article by Alex Crevar on a handful of surviving juke (prob. Gullah for disorderly ) joints.
