About

Stiffel Senior Center in South Philly certified as historically important. Eddie Fisher started here.

This building, which started as the Jewish Education Center No. 2 in 1928, was in danger of being razed but has received some preservationist attention that may save it. Eddie Fisher began his career singing in the chorus here. See the Philadelphia Inquirer, 8/31/13, at pp. B1, B6. It was designed by Frank E. Hahn, the same architect as Philly's Royal Theater, according to the Philly Preservation Alliance Website.
