Rebel Rebel Records has been here for 28 years, but lost its lease because of gentrification in the neighborhood and will be closing on June 30, 2016. It took its name, of course, from the David Bowie masterpiece. Bowie had never visited, but he did appear in a movie, Band Slam, in 2009, that had a scene shot in the store. Prince bought a Kate Bush album, a Young Disciples recording and magazines here. Robert Plant bought a Smashing Pumpkins album. Jimmy Page came in four times for bootlegs of himself.
