South Philly's Engine 46 Firehouse to be Demolished?

A firehouse operated here from 1894 thru 1966. For a while, it was Engine 46 Steakhouse. It is of the Flemish Revival style. Its elaborate chimney can be seen from I-95. The most recent owner has a demolition permit and preservationist are not sure what its intentions are. There is a good article about the building in the 6/26/13 Philadelphia Inquirer, by Inga Saffron, on pp. B1, 8. In the 7/16/13 Inquirer, at B1, it says that efforts to preserve the building are gaining some success.
