Blinding of Isaac Woodard Site and Marker

African-American WWII veteran Isaac Woodard was brutally beaten and blinded by a white sheriff here on Feb. 12, 1946. There is a lot about it on the Web, and also a Woodie Guthrie song about the tragedy. On Feb. 9, 2019, a real marker was placed here, on the corner that used to have the police station on it.
