Aqua Lounge (jazz) was here; most dangerous corner 2007.

The Aqua Lounge jazz club was here in the 60s and 70s, with performers such as Betty Carter, Arthur Prysock, Dave Burrell, Bootsie Barnes, and Wilbur Ware. See, for ex., the Philadelphia Inquirer, 12/22/19, at pp. J1, J7. There is quite a bit about it on the Web. The area is being revitalized, but in April 2007 the Philadelphia Daily News called 52nd and Market Streets the city's most dangerous corner, according to the Inquirer article (written by Jason Laughlin).
