19th-century cemetery found at 5th & Spring Garden Sts.

Burials from the nineteen century related to a church that had been on this spot, the Fifth Street Methodist Episcopal Church, had been disinterred long ago. But now that the property is being cleared for a high rise, more old graves have been found. There is an effort to handle them properly and respectfully. See the Philadelphia Inquirer, 7/14/21, at B1, 4, "Remains from 1800s under mall parking," by Ellie Rushing.
