First Chinese Church in Western Hemishpere

The first church built for the Chinese in the Western Hemishpere, this church calls itself, according to the Phila. Inquirer of 1/22/12, at p. C2. The Inquirer explains that in 1939, Bishop Paul Yu Pin of Nanking, China, visited Philadelphia hoping to speak to local Chinese Catholics about news in their homeland, and finding few, helped to start this parish in 1941.
