Site of Fatal Auto Crash of Dr. Albert C. Barnes

Dr. Barnes, founder of the Barnes Foundation (art colleciton), died here in a crash between his Packard and a tractor trailer, on July 24, 1951, at the age of 78. Accounts say it was at Rt. 401 and Rt. 29, which no longer cross. But they did until 1970, when Rt. 29's path was changed to follow Morehall Road.
