Bruce Springteen's mom took him to see his first rock show here, a performance by Chubby Checker. I heard this on Sirius Radio's E-Street channel, when cartoonist Frank Caruso was guest DJ and played the live version of Springsteen covering the Beatles' Tell Me Why, and Bruce mentions it in the intro story. I see online that the date was 6/29/62. Bruce said that Checker was really good.
