Great grain elevator explosion was here - West Philly
There was a giant grain dust explosion in the Tidewater Grain Elevator here on March 28, 1956. Three people were killed and 84 were injured. I heard it even bent the raised railroad bridge next to it. A lot of damage was done to the buildings at the adjacent Drexel University.
