There is an old African American cemetery here in need of preservation. Civil War veterans are buried in it. It was connected with a church that was called the Union A.M.E. Church of Marple, which moved to Olive Street in Media, PA, as the Trinity U.A.M.E. There is a movement to clean it up. This information is from the Philadelphia Inquirer, 6/12/15, at pp. B1, 2, in an article called Paying a Cemetery Respects, by Kristin E. Holmes.
