Chink's opened in 1949, named after Sam Chink Sherman. It's arguably (Philadelphians like to argue over this point) the best cheese steak shop in Philly, which means anywhere). Because the name is a racial slur, it has been controversial. Current owner Joe Groh is changing the name as of April 1, 2013 (not an April Fool's joke) because he has tried to expand and gets thwarted due to the name.
