In 1966 Lou Reed and his band The Velvet Underground & Nico recorded at Scepter Records here. (VU is Andy Warhol connection.) Shirelles and other girl groups recorded here. Engineer Tom Moulton created first 12-inch extended dance remix here, helping spark disco movement. Studio 54 night club (also a Warhol connection) was here, in same spot where The $64,000 Question and Captain Kangaroo show had been broadcasted.
