The East Side Club was in the basement of this building in the early to mid-1980s. The list of great bands that played here is large. I was the publicist circa 1981, and in my day we saw the Slits. Killing Joke, Duran Duran, and even early Madonna performed here. There are lists of performers on the Web. Later, it became a "gay disco" called Kurt's.
