Meyers Annex, which was a hobby shop annexed to Meyers Stationery store, was in this plaza in the 1960s. I loved the store when I was a kid. It sold Aurora HO racing cars, and had an HO racetrack where you could pay to race your own car for a set amount of time. It sold great plastic model kits, and I tried to win a model building contest here but was clearly out of my league. If you search for it at newspapers.com you will find quite a few ads for it, and also, articles mentioning that it donated prizes/awards for various community events.
