There has been a tavern here since 1876 (it was even a speakeasy during Prohibition). It had been a live music bar/venue that hosted Iggy Pop, Hole, the Killers, the Decemberists and Elastica. (It's manager during those days got involved with terrorism and eventually was arrested and pled guilty.) Now, the new owners turned it into a Southern-style food gastropub with a great beer selection, and a super jukebox. On a recent Sunday we sat by the window where the stage had been, thinking of the shows that were presented there, and the good Po' boys and gumbo we were eating. But I must say, their pecan pie with cinnamon cream is the best I ever had.
