Artist W.S. Reynolds (active 1890s) may have lived or had a studio here, because in the artist's oil on canvas, The Evening Star, there is an envelope addressed, Reynolds, 23F St., Washington, DC. I saw this in an ad for C.L. Prickett Antiques in the Maine Antique Digest, at p. 2-CS, Feb. 2015. It is also at http://www.clprickett.com/CLP4013.htm. I can't find a bio on the artist, and don't even know the artist's gender. But Googling does find some pieces that were sold at auction.
