The legendary Beatle, John Lennon, was photographed in the Temple of Love in this park on March 28, 1975, by famed rock and roll photographer Bob Gruen. See, for ex., http://blog.classicist.org/?attachment_id=4973. A brochure for the park describes the Temple of Love this way: This stunning cantilevered temple was the centerpiece of an extensive series of rock gardens. Waterfalls cascaded down and through the rocks to the pool below, and the whole structure was elaborately planted. We visited it a few times and of course took pictures of ourselves standing as Mr. Lennon did. This Untermyer estate, now a conservancy, is fascinating. Some of it is well kept and beautiful, and even the ruins are captivating.
