Elli Buk (1949-2012) was an antique collector and dealer who had his business and home here. There was a giant auction of his collections on April 25-28 of 2012 by Grogan & Co. It was so diverse, Buk's friend , science-ficiton writer William Gibson (coined cyberspace ) tweeted Auction of the contents of the world, as determined by the late, great E. Buk. Buk rented out his inventory as film props, including tfor he TV show Edison, and the 2008 documentary Souvenirs: The Many Worlds of Mickey Wolfson had its opening scene shot at his shop. He also provided props for the cover of Oliver Sack's 2001 memoir, Uncle Tungsten: Memories of a Chemical Boyhood. It also appears that he is mentioned in William Gibson's 2003 novel, Pattern Recognition.
