St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1970) started the parish school here and she worshipped in the lower church. She was the first U.S. citizen to be canonized a saint (Elizabeth Ann Seton was the first native born). The Philadelphia Archdiocese is closing the parish but parishioners are trying to keep it open.
