Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena (1917- 1965)

 

Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena, inventor of the color- wheel type of color television, was born. His mother gave birth to him in Guadalajara, Mexico, then moved to Mexico City at the age of 2 where he lived most of his life. Guillermo’s interest in television started in 1930 when he enrolled in the School of Electrical Mechanical Engineering, a few years before the great depression influenced economies worldwide. Despite television being shut down for 6 years during WW2, he was the first to patent the color television in the USA and Mexico. He took color television to the medical fields where color coding was created and communicating was easier for the doctors. After his death on April 18th, 1965, color television continued to improve levels of comprehension and social development.
