Comments : The following information is from todays Philadelphia Inquirer at pgs. B1, B4. It appears that only the exterior and not the interior of this building will be saved. The Blue Horizon, deemed in 1999 by Ring magazine to be the best boxing venue in the world, began as a group of Second Empire mansions in the mid-19th century. In 1912, the Loyal Order of Moose purchased the cluster of mansard-roofed townhouses, carved out an auditorium and ballroom within, and built a lodge numbering up to 40,000 members by the onset of the Depression. The buildings were sold in 1961 and became the Blue Horizon. They were sold again in 1994. The 1200-seat Blue Horizon hosted fights until June 2010. Developers want to turn it into a hotel.
