Comments : According to a message board under an article in the online version of the Philadelphia Weekly about singer Astrud Gilbertos connections with Philadelphia, Gilberto once visited a patient/friend in this hospital. What a thrill it would have been to run into her! (Gilberto is famous for making a hit out of Girl from Ipanema.)

Comments : It would be great to learn more about Astrud Gilbertos time living on the Philly Main Line. I saw this online in a story about Philly-area garageband record company wizzard Dave Bass, He (Bass) studied percussion during his school years, joining his first band, Crosstown Traffic in 1974, an Ardmore, PA band whos guitarist was the son of singer Astrud Gilberto. Maybe more info will surface.

Comments : The late great Kobe Bryant was born in this hospital on 8./24/78. His birth certificate, and hence many news accounts, say he was born in Philadelphia, but Philadelphia was merely the post office and zip code area for this section of the suburbs at the time. The hospital was once in Philly, but in 1953 it moved here, which is the former site of the Overbrook Golf Club.
