Stars - Second and Bainbridge, had some top acts appear.

I need some help with this one. I believe this is the site of restaurant superstar Stephen Starr's comdey and concert venue in the seventies, when he was in his early twenties. I've seen it called Stars, Starz and Starr's. I remember that it had tables and a balcony. There used to be stories on the Web about the night, possibly Halloween, when the Cramps played there and tore up (literally) the house (there are a few mentions of it without many details now). I saw some shows there, including Fingerprintz, Yachts, Johnny's Dance Band (I got served while underaged, which I thought was cool at the time), Mary Wells, and Rachel Sweet (two nights in a row). I believe Starr also hosted the Ramones, Dead Boys, Ray Charles, Eurythmics, Pat Benatar and Jerry Seinfeld. If anyone cares to fact check these comments, please do so.

Comments : Rachel Sweet played here with Fingerprintz as her backing band on 7/20 and 7/21/79. The shows were great! I went both nights with my friend, David Perri, who wrote a nice account of the nights for the Drexel (University) Triangle, 7/27/79 edition.

Comments : 00 he discusses this club, the Cramps smashing the stage here, the Damned playing here (and drummer Rat Scabies following Startup back to the Dobbs club to see Startups band, the Autistics, play), and the Dictators playing here.

Comments : Clarifying some corrupted comments: Philly rock chronicler Jay Schwartz says it was Stars, not Starz (which was a band), www.tmorganonline.com"index.php"venues-no-longer-there on 3"31"17. The concerts with Wire, etc., were in 1978, www.newspapers.com"image"185376325"?terms=%22dead+boys%22+philadelphia+%22chestnut+street%22. The story about the Damned and Bobby Startup was from an interview at loudfastphilly.com"interviews"bobby-startup.

Comments : The obituary for comedian Bob Saget in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 1/10/22 at p. B6, says that Mr. Saget "befriended Stephen Starr, then a nightclub promoter who had a club in Queen Village called Stars. 'He invited me and allowed me to open for people. ... He had me opening for Frank Stallone and [his band] Valentine, which, if you're opening at Second and Bainbridge, you can't get more appropriate.'"
