Redbone, Santana, at Echelon Mall (Voorhees Town Center)
In the parking lot of the Echelon Mall (now called the Voorhees Town Center), c. 1972, there was a rock concert featuring Redbone and Santana. I remember listening to a live broadcast on WIBG (990 AM), and when someone threw a firecracker in the audience during the Redbone set, Redbone's members became upset and left the stage.

I know I heard a concert on the radio with the firecracker incident, and I am almost positive it was Redbone at Echelon Mall. I think it was on Rick Menapaces show on WIBG, perhaps on a Sunday afternoon as opposed to his show on Sunday nights, but it has been a long time and my memory could be faulty.

Comments : There is an interesting Redbone site at www.redbone.fr. Within the past year I saw a pickup truck in East Norriton, PA, that was painted with a Redbone rock band theme. Fans are still out there!

Comments : The concert was definitely in the Spring, and although I dont remember everything about it I attended it with my brother. Dont remember which Philly radio station sponsored it, but dont remember anything about John Lennon or George Michael having anything to do with it whatsoever. It was a blast!

Comments : I am so glad to see this. Nobody else remembers it. I was there, and remember being amazed at how many people were there. All in all, it was a peaceful gathering, no one really caused a lot of trouble. If it were to take place today, all hell would break loose! Such a shame how things have changed. I was too young for Woodstock, but at age 17, this was the next best thing!
