The Big Store, one of the only places to sell collegiate sports merchandise before it became a big industry, was here. A fun look back at The Big Store in the 60s is in Frank Fitzpatrick's column in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 4/3/16, at p. D2, and at http://articles.philly.com/2016-04-04/sports/72017483_1_brooks-brothers-merchandise-main-street. It describes the place as Cheap, chintzy, and a big draw. I am not sure whether it was in the spot where Bennett's is today, or next door (although Bennett's appears to take up two store fronts). If anyone has better information on the address, please comment below.
