The features of this building were designed to look like a camera, in Main Street Modernism style. It was Ott Camera from 1955 thru March 2016 (starting next door in Joseph C. Ott's home in 1948). The architect was Allan A. Berkowitz. The O in the Ott neon sign represents a viewfinder. The new owner is modifying it and the historic commission is trying to get a designation to protect it. This information is from Inga Saffron's column in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 6/12/16, at p. H19.
