This corner bar, established c. 1933, sounds like the quintessential old-time neighborhood bar, delightfully caught in a time warp, according to Samantha Melamed's column in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 4/13/17, at p. D6. It might fit in the dive bar/hole in the wall, in a good way category, but I'm not sure. Usually something has to stand out for that honor, like a food specialty, although it does sound like the socializing that goes on here is special.
