This art deco theater was built in 1929. According to the Phila. Inquirer, 12/9/11, at B6, it has been a movie theater, vaudeville house, rhythm-and-blues-venue, nightclub, and church. The Inquirer goes on to say that performers who appeared here include Michael Jackson with the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Mad Lads, Ray Charles, The Mighty O'Jays, the Supremes, the Intrigues and Jackie Wilson. It has fallen into disrepair but there are revitalization efforts going on to save this architectural treasure.
